Faeries In My Garden Newsletter April/May 2010

Hello Everyone,

The seasons are just beginning to turn, all round the world. As I read blogs from the northern hemisphere, where the snow is melting, and the promise of spring is in the air, I sit here, just revelling in the cooler nights and crystal clear mornings that are beginning to arrive in our corner of the world. Our summer has been very hot and humid, so the change of seasons is something to long for!

We have some special new designs to offer you to welcome in the new season. Hot off the press, and so warm and snugly, is our very newest Block of the Month offering: “Love Among the Roses”. This lovely quilt, in delicious shades of chocolate, pink and cream, features a dozen sweet embroidered hearts, set into a bed of roses. What more could you ask? At this stage, there is a very limited supply of these beautiful fabrics, so places in this BOM are extremely limited. I am binding the quilt at the moment, and have been sitting out on the verandah in front of the shop overlooking our beautiful bay, and have been engaged in this pleasant task. People are signing up on the spot, and the quilt will be advertised very soon, so places will go quickly. I will be taking it to the AQC in Melbourne next week, for its debut. The original intention was to stage the official release at the Darling Harbour show in June, but we are ahead of schedule, so we can offer this quilt now, ready for you to start in June/July. Kits and pattern will be available then as well. Here is where you can view the first photos of this design and put your name down for this BOM: Love Among The Roses Block of the Month.

Also starting very soon as a Block of the Month (early May) is Maureen’s beautiful “Twilight Garden” In-house classes have started, and the Pixies are now into their third month. If this lovely quilt takes your fancy (no pun intended on the amount of embroidery involved!), then you can contact us, as bookings are now open to do this quilt as a Block of the Month. See more details here: Twilight Garden

It seems as though we have lots of new designs to offer you at the moment! Marion Marshall, from The Quilter’s Angel at Highfields, invited me to be one of the designers for the first-ever Girls Stitch In. What a wonderful weekend that was in early March! Wet, wet, wet, and mud up to our ears, but nothing dampened the spirits of those wonderful ladies, some of whom had travelled many miles to be there. My design for this event was “A Butterfly’s Garden” workbasket. We are now offering this design as a pattern, and also as a kit, but not in the fabrics pictured in the original projects. We have selected a lovely new range from Chez Moi of Moda. The range is called “Boutique” and I think it suits the design to a “T”. As a very special promotion, we are issuing a challenge with this design: if you are one of the first five people to send us a photo of the three items made up in the new fabrics, you will win a voucher to the value of $65! This means that you get your kit for free! Obviously we require proof of purchase from us of the kit for you to qualify. Good luck! Here is the link to this new design: Butterfly’s Garden

Last, but certainly not least, we have a brand new version of a previous design that has proved to be very popular in the past. Donna has stitched a fresh and beautiful version of this design, and we are calling it “Sweethearts in Spring”. Verna Mosquera’s “Sweet Escape” range was used to make this quilt, and Donna said it was a joy to make. She whipped it up in no time, as she used her machine to do the blanket stitch appliqué. A pretty, fresh quilt for your sunroom, spare bedroom, or daughter’s room.

Oh, of course, it’s Mother’s Day on 9th May! To celebrate this wonderful day, we are offering some beautiful kits at very special prices: The lovely Angel Cake Embroidered Tote Bag, and also the Angel Cake Needle Book are both priced especially as promotions for Mother’s Day. These kits and patterns will be offered at the special prices only until the end of May. We also have on offer, deluxe, gift boxed kits, all ready to present to a stitching friend or relative whether for Mother’s Day or any other occasion!

I hope that your stitching is in full swing, and that you are enjoying making up your projects. Don’t forget to check our “What’s New” section quite regularly, as this is where we post new designs.

Until next time,

Happy Stitching!

Lesley.
